2017 Terroir Series Scheurebe

Relatively obscure in North America, Scheurebe is a Germanic vinifera variety and a relative of Riesling that is characterized by it’s exuberantly aromatic profile and intoxicating tropical demeanor. The 2017 vintage marked the second Scheurebe harvest from our estate Oak Island Vineyard in Avonport. A generous growing season provided superb aromatic intensity and fruit concentration.

Tasting Notes

Pale straw hue with green flecks. Dried peach, orange blossom and lychee bouquet. Light bodied, off-dry with lush honeyed, juicy tropical fruit flavors, yet fresh and balanced with jolts of grapefruit. A charming, quaffable white that is perfect for bright sunny days.

With vibrant tropical flavors, and a slightly off-dry / low alcohol profile, this wine is a conducive match with spicy, aromatic cuisine (think szechwan, tandoori, curry, or lemongrass based dishes), dishes containing a sweet element (barbecue sauces, fruit salad), to balance salt ( Parmigiano Reggiano), or with rich, gamy birds (duck, pheasant).
