2018 Pinot Rosé
A dry style of rosé made from organic and biodynamic estate-grown grapes (94% Pinot Meunier and 6% Pinot Noir) hand harvested from the south-facing slope of our Oak Island Vineyard site in Avonport, Nova Scotia. Here, at the mouth of the Gaspereau River, fresh water meets the ocean and cool breezes help craft wines of great distinction, vibrancy and freshness.
The grapes for this wine are sourced from a well-balanced, low yielding block and the late spring frost during the 2018 vintage meant crop levels were even lower than average, further enhancing fruit concentration and ultimately quality.
Whole cluster pressing with a short skin maceration of just a few hours gave this wine its beautiful faint salmon colouration and subtle red fruit characteristics. Fermentation in a combination of old French oak and stainless steel helped to preserve fresh fruit flavours while rounding out the texture of the mid-palate.
