2017 Terroir Series Sauvignon Blanc
The Lightfoot & Wolfville Terroir Series is a collection of small-lot wines intended to showcase our unique sense of place. The label imagery reflects this theme and helps tell the story of the land where our Sauvignon Blanc grapes are grown. Dandelions, cow horns, and barn swallows represent our organic and biodynamic growing practices, while apple blossoms represent the Annapolis Valley region.
This is an ultra small-lot, single-vineyard wine from just 1-acre of Sauvignon Blanc grown on our estate vineyard in Avonport, N.S – the “Oak Island Vineyard”. The generous 2017 growing season provided low disease pressure, superb aromatic intensity and fruit concentration. Grapes were handpicked and hand sorted to yield the highest quality juice. Sorted clusters were crushed, destemmed and cold soaked for up to 24 hrs to enhance flavor extraction from the skins. Fermentation and 6 month lees aging took place in old (neutral) French oak barrels.
